If you’ve been following my work for a while, you’ll know that animal rescue has shaped almost everything I do. I spent seven years photographing shelter animals every weekend, and it opened my eyes to how many people in our community want to make life better for dogs in real, practical ways.

So when something comes along that helps dog parents save a bit of money and also supports rescue work, I pay attention.

Why this matters for dog parents

Recently, I heard from Brandon Cowan, someone I used to cross paths with back in the Blacktown Pound and AWL days. He’s one of the good ones, the kind who quietly shows up for animals year after year. Brandon and a friend have created an Australian website called Compare Pet Products, a simple idea with a lot of heart behind it. The site compares prices from different retailers so you can find the best deal on everyday supplies like food, treats and parasite protection.

With the cost of living climbing the way it has, I know many families are feeling the pressure. Sometimes saving even a few dollars on essentials can help keep a dog at home with the people who love them, and that matters.

How this supports Dog Rescue Newcastle

For a short time, Brandon has kindly offered to donate fifty percent of any income generated through the website to a charity of my choice. I have chosen Dog Rescue Newcastle because they do extraordinary work for dogs who would otherwise have nowhere to go. They rehome more than a thousand animals each year, all through the dedication of foster carers and volunteers who juggle their own lives with the endless needs of rescue.
