The Farm Photography Experience

The Ultimate Pet Portrait Experience in NSW – enjoying your dog living their best life!

The Farm Photography Experience – for the ultimate pet portrait

The big day has arrived! Your dog is pimped and preened and you have your outfit ready and you’re headed to our farm! New to this blog and wondering where to start… last week I took you through the Discovery Call. Now on to the farm photography experience!

Escape the city with your dog

Our farm is 2.5k along Squires Road, a dirt road just past the Wootton Community Centre on the Wootton Way.
When your dog arrives, the sights, smells, and sounds are like a sensory explosion, and this soon includes taste as they get out and have a sniff around and sample a few of the grasses. It’s a bit like having a glass of champs when you arrive at a special function.
Most of our clients travel up from Sydney, Newcastle or the Hunter Valley region and often opt to take advantage of the experience by building it around a weekend escape with their dog. We are located in the Great Lakes Region of the beautiful Barrington Coast and there is so much to explore up here, one weekend isn’t really near enough!
The Farm Photography Experience - Welcome!

Meet, Greet, Sniff and Pee

I’ll greet you at the gate and take you into our “waiting area” where we will spend some time chatting and settling in and letting your dog sniff and pee to their heart’s content. One of my recent clients introduced me to the term “sniffari” meaning letting your dog take you on an adventure with their nose… sniffing out the most interesting route to walk. This is all part of our unique farm photography experience.
Once we’ve all settled, I’ll take you through another gate into our main shooting space… an expansive paddock up high on the farm with the most amazing views of the surrounding countryside and the freshest air you will have breathed in a long time! It is right here where we are also building a photography studio which will be ready for action by October 2022!

Time to strike a pose, and have some fun

We’ll spend the next hour or so watching your dog living their best life as they frollick around to their heart’s content. I will be photographing them as we meander along the pathways.
I will most likely ask you to assist when I find the perfect spot to take some portraits of your dog. I’ll show you how to position your dog and yourself, and hold the lead in a way where it can easily be edited out of the shot in post-production. I even have some awesome tricks up my sleeve so I can totally edit you out of the shot too where necessary.

The love of your life?

Of course, what better way to celebrate the love you have for your dog than by having some photos taken with them.
Full disclaimer! The photos of me in this post were taken during a branding session with Claudia Gabriel Lim with a neighbour and her gorgeous Japanese Spitz’s so I’m also sharing some photos of some images from a recent  client session with Tina and her pawrents. Tina had a blast at her farm photography experience!
Tina’s mum Jaime chose an Artisan Box along with a Digital Collection at her reveal and purchasing appointment which is the subject of next week’s post.

The Artwork

As we are a destination dog photography business, we take our clients into our studio at the end of the session so they can see, touch and feel our Australian made artwork options on display. It’s one thing to see our beautiful products digitally in an online brochure, but to see them in person is a whole different level.

You can even get to sit and relax with a glass of wine at the end of the session… how great is that!

The end of a great experience… and a very sleepy dog

Without fail, every single dog who has enjoyed our farm photography experience here in Wootton crashes out in the car on the journey home or back to accommodation. Maybe it’s the abundance of fresh air, maybe it’s the excitement of the adventure, regardless they all catch some shut-eye!

I’ve no doubt I’m about to say what everyone else is thinking: I WANT YOUR FARM. What a perfect spot for dog photography sessions. I’m so jealous.

Sleepy dogs mean I did a great job too! 😂 I almost always get the napping-in-the-car photo as they head home. It’s the best!

    OMG what a dream location!!

    Sniffari!!!! Love it!
We also have an 8 acre farm, where I do most of our Fall photo sessions, as the leaves on our trails are lovely. One of the reasons we built the studio on our property, was to also give our dogs peace. Great post and love the branding photos!
