Welcome to Week 7 of the Pet Photography 52 Weeks Project. This week’s theme is “Tales of Tails”.
A short tail for you this week
I find animal tails fascinating and often wonder what us humans would be like if we had tails. I have pulled from the archives this week for the most part with a few recent photos … especially Tilly the Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog mix I photographed recently at Boat Harbour, Cronulla. Tilly is a true sea dog who lives with her Dad on his boat… so having a very stumpy tail works well for her lifestyle!
Cats tails are so expressive and mysterious in many ways but hard to catch in a photo at the shelter… there’s a few mixed in here to enjoy.
One of my favourites is of a cat I shot for a client a few years back… you’ll see the photo I mean when I say it reminded me of a candle flame.
Of course I have a couple of Jack Russell Terrier tails in here too… one of my own Harvey Chops Lyons. JRTs have the cutest little tails in the world, and even when they are up to mischief, it is their tail that gives them away!
I hope you enjoy these tails.
Thank you for reading, I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s topic. Please head on over to check out Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography fetching portraits in Coppell and surrounding communities in the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex. for Tracy’s take on this topic.

Love the canine/feline mix … all such lovely tails.
It does look like a candle flame! Great tailphotos….especially the mischief one at the start?
Great tail photographs and I love the one where the dog is underneath getting into something!
Beautiful images Jo; gorgeous lighting and sumptuous colors and that JRT tail under the building…priceless!
