Welcome to Week 26 of the Pet Photography 52 Weeks Project. This week’s theme is “Doors”… you can pretty much find them everywhere!
This week I’m using some images taken on my very first commissioned photo shoot of 2019, with the adorable Alfie O’Sullivan. I thought I’d take a different perspective by showing how a garage door can also provide a great vibe to a portrait.
LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES
Alfie’s home is gorgeous and we had a few options for his session and I used all of these throughout the session. We started at the top of the battle-axe driveway. It is lined with a gorgeous green leafy hedge which provided a great backdrop for Alfie’s colours and soft breezy hairstyle. We then headed down by the pool and around the back garden. Alfie was so proud of his forever home.
Did you know that Alfie was adopted from Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter back in Winter 2016? I volunteer at this shelter and it is a fantastic place to find your next furry family member.
SHOW ME THE DOOR!
Before winding up Alfie’s session, I wanted to take some photos of him in front of the black garage doors. I knew they would provide a great backdrop for Alfie’s gorgeousness. They also reminded me a little of a French courtyard with the white flowers highlighting the edge of the frame..This took me back to my time at Barkjour.
ALFIE’S ARTWORK … A FAMILY HEIRLOOM
Alfie’s Mum Sharon purchased a gorgeous large Storyboard for their living room. This now proudly hangs side by side with one I created a few years ago for their other dog Sparkle. You can learn more about the artwork I create from your session right here.

Home sessions can be challenging with finding beautiful spots, but your use of these doors shows how easily you can create various looks based on perspective, lens, etc.
Omg he’s a cutie!
Luscious lighting! Alfie is adorbs, great work capturing his personality and I love the images chosen for the storyboard.
