I first met Osi a couple of weeks ago when he was being surrendered to the Sutherland Shire Animal Shelter by his heartbroken family. It’s not often that I feel sad for the surrendering family, but on that day I did. I don’t know their reasons for surrendering this loyal boy who is now over 5 years old, but I could see they were genuinely heartbroken and distraught and I shed a tear or two with them as I cuddled him in an effort to help him feel relaxed in such a stressful situation. I told them not to worry, that Osi would find a wonderful forever home. So my mission to capture his handsomeness, his spirit and soul in these photos.
Here’s the shelter staff’s take on Osi:
“This hunky spunk of a man is so deserving of a loving home. Osi is a beautiful big boy who loves to love and just generally be around people. Osi is great with children and would suit a family situation. He would be required to be the only dog in the household as sometimes other dogs can scare him and he doesn’t know how to behave around them. Training and socialisation in this area would be highly beneficial to Osi as it would boost his confidence and help him live happier in society. Osi is a large and strong dog who would need a physically assertive and confident handler. Osi has been a family dog and would suit older children, or a couple who want a loving companion. If this big burly boy sounds like the one for you, come and meet him today!”
